Treats for your Fish!
Fish are lovely creatures. They do not leave mess around your house. They dont make a noise if someone dares to knock at the door, and they do not have to be let out or let in, or brushed or stroked or anything else. They are simply fish. However, a lot of animals have treats on the market for them, but when you go to the store and get your dog his favorite jerky or your cat their favorite milk, do you often see things for the fish? NO! and it is a shame. BUT FEAR NOT! There are simple things you can give your fish, both coldwater and tropical, to liven up their day and diet, and let you feel like you have pampered them a little. Lettuce is very well liked. A few leaves ripped into manageable pieces will float on the top like tempting giant flakes for the fish to nibble and crash into as they dare to go near it. Cucumber, cut into halves, so the fleshy side is accessible, again is a great toy for the fish. Frozen peas, boiled, let cool and shelled, added to the tank can also add a bit of excitement to your tank. Remember to remove any uneaten food, and to only treat once or twice a week, else you will need a fish treadmill, and I do not think they have those in abundance! |
